Relationship

We work pro bono for The Cybersmile Foundation, a charity that works to stop cyberbullying and negative activities online and in the digital sphere. After a brand refresh for Stop Cyberbullying Day we moved into the next stage of the project: user experience and website design. Problem

After refreshing the identity for Stop Cyberbullying Day we moved into the next stage of the project: user experience and website design.

The existing site was no longer fit for purpose and had important structural issues that were hindering the ability of users to explore and understand Stop Cyberbullying Day and get involved with the movement.

One major issue was that the high quality content produced to support the day was lost in the site, and the huge amount of activity on social media was also not tied back to the site.

There was a need to improve the ability of people to find out how to become involved in partnership and sponsorship with the day, and these journeys needed to be made clear and simple. Read more on how to supercharge your UX for a digital-first world.

Solution

In our approach to the project, we applied human-centered thinking. This involved understanding the users of the site and their motivations, as well as finding ways to better serve their needs while focusing on improving the website structure.

Our process included the following steps:

  1. Conducting an immersive workshop with the client to gain a thorough understanding of the objectives of the site.
  2. Auditing the existing site to identify areas where the website structure was lacking and impeding the goal of driving high traffic to the site.
  3. Conducting user research and analysis to gain a clear understanding of the target audience, their journeys through the website, and how to optimise those journeys to increase traffic.
  4. Building wireframes and prototypes iteratively, with close client involvement in the process, to ensure a clear website design and an engaging user experience.
  5. Designing the user interface (UI) to establish a design system that maintains consistency with the brand refresh.
  6. Carrying out technical development, rigorous testing, and successful deployment to support the high-traffic website on Stop Cyberbullying Day.

Results

Through our efforts, we successfully created a brand-new, more engaging Cybersmile WordPress website. The website structure was improved to facilitate an increase in traffic, and the clear website design supported the brand refresh process.

The result is a functional, user-friendly website that offers a slick, seamless, and enjoyable overall user experience.

Since launching the site, we are delighted to have collaborated with the Cybersmile Foundation in providing pro bono services. Together, we have built a platform that helps them engage a wider audience, encourages interaction, and supports people around the world in fighting back against cyberbullying. We have also worked with KeyForLife on a pro-Bono basis and helped them create a roadmap to reducing youth re-offending.
