Exeter University approached us to help them increase bookings for their open days for their geology courses, raise awareness of the courses and the benefits of studying in Cornwall, and ultimately increase applications for the courses.

Problem

Despite being the only university in the UK to offer geology degrees, Exeter University’s courses were relatively unknown among potential students. As a result, the university struggled to attract applicants and fill their open day events.

Solution

To address the challenge, we developed a test and learn paid media campaign that utilised both search and social platforms. We conducted A/B testing of multiple ad creatives and targeting parameters to identify the most effective approach.

We created custom audiences and used precise targeting to reach potential students in key locations and engage them with compelling messaging. We also implemented retargeting strategies to keep the university top of mind among interested prospects.

While the client managed the landing pages, we handled all aspects of the paid media campaign planning and execution, including budget allocation and performance tracking.

As part of our efforts to help Exeter University attract applicants, we also provided recommendations for their social media marketing strategy. By creating more engaging and informative content on social media channels, we helped the university connect with prospective students and generate interest in their unique course offerings.

Results

The results of our campaign were impressive. Exeter University saw significant growth in website traffic for two key areas of their website.

Overall, the geology page views increased by 65% and the university experienced a substantial increase in open day bookings and course applications, helping them achieve their overall goals. Our social media marketing strategy recommendations also helped the university better connect with prospective students and generate interest in their offerings.
